No, this question is practically designed to turn “I am smarter than most Americans” into “I am simply a better human than most Americans” by misreading “I remember a bit of trivia” as “Most Americans are racist.” You can gore the ox the other way.

With due respect, if you consider knowing the name of numeral system you're using as "a bit of trivia", then your education system is in really bad place right now.

Exactly, I don’t think you can consider trivia something every kid should be aware of before the end of middle school.

It’s both. If they were ignorant but not biased, then they wouldn’t default to “no, we shouldn’t teach that.” They would say “I don’t know.”

The 56% are the clever ones who realise they actually should be called 'Hindu-Arabic numerals', and to teach 'Arabic numerals' is to betray a gross ignorance of the origin of those useful symbols imported into the Western world by Fibonacci...

To add to the trivia, the numbers we know as “Arabic numerals” are not even the same symbols in use in all Middle Eastern countries. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Arabic_numerals …pic.twitter.com/s7aEWcFLf7
