Tesla running an auto insurance company for Tesla’s, covered in Matt Levine’s newsletter this morning, is (contingent on the product being factually safe) such an obviously incentive-compatible innovation that we should expect to see more of that greasing gears in tech adoption.

I like the ideal in general more than I like the idea applied to Tesla specifically, because they strike me as being just smart enough to say “Well we’re already betting the farm on this being safe so why not increase our exposure by basically nothing for the marketing benefit.”

the medical equivalent is The Surgery Center of Oklahoma, where if you get another infection or such while being treated you get charged $0 for that. https://surgerycenterok.com/ aligned incentives = fewer other infections they also post transparent upfront prices.
