Been thinking: Why don't we see worker-owned internet services? Why don't drivers pool together and hire some developers to build an Uber? Or a Doordash, etc. Sure, the quality will not be the same but many people will switch and eat the cost just to support the cause.

Minimum buy-in is several million dollars for engineering team, managing projects is hard, seed set of drivers is insufficient supply, need money to motivate supply in absence of demand, people who say they’ll pay more for a worse product mostly won’t, economies of scale...

... make single-city on-demand services basically impossible in a world where multi-city services are legal, and the multi-city services need millions to light up a new city, where the co-op probably doesn’t have a dense network.
