I often think these are arguments of convenience, because the Internet is also generally making it easy to purchase Y directly... and the global market for Y supports a couple of cottage providers but nothing material relative to the bundle.

There’s only two ways I know of to make money: bundling and unbundling” — Jim Barksdale I’m sure the internet facilitated a lot of bundling that wasn’t possible due to reasons of distribution costs and geographical challenges.

By facilitate a lot of bundling not possible, the best examples I can think of merely create existing bundles but at an exceedingly lower cost. Eg it’s cheaper than before to start and build a company/software product/digital media product at the same complexity.
