And yeah, can totally model why someone who has worked in an office for 15 years has as much enthusiasm for their employer’s new razzle dazzle as a Chicagoan has for e.g. the Bulls halftime show. People want to belong to something.

Another thing I think is that people tend to forget that other people are capable of inside jokes and deliberate exaggerations and so on. Ie it’s tempting to assume other people are being completely earnest with no sense of humor

I worked in a call center for BofA during college. I learned how to patiently de-escalate an upset person. Still today in a tense 1:1 the training from that job kicks in. 1) apologize 2) empathize 3) offer next steps.
