I think there are engineers who get an on site who are bad. I’d believe functionally all the signal from there is just other engineers individually being like “uh, nah”, but I’d definitely bet on a random yes/no doing worse

To make an argument from the extreme, if literally all interviewing engineers did during an interview process was say “no” to people who screamed at them or were violent during the day’s activities, that would be better than random.
