"It's outlandish how far $800 will go." @shl on the incredible capital efficiency of software companies spending money on early-career folks. I think this is one of the great arbitrage opportunities available anywhere.

The three most important decisions in my life were probably marrying Ruriko, starting Bingo Card Creator, and going full-time on my software business. Money probably doesn't change the first decision at the margin, for good reasons. $60 and $2k did on the second two.

(This is one of the reasons I'm so optimistic that something shaped sort of like Pioneer or Lambda School or something we can't even conceive of yet will be stupendously effective.)

For orgs of a sufficient size, an in house Lambda school for leveling up junior engineers seems like a thing that makes sensehttps://twitter.com/alexcusack/status/1104156392057798656 …

        Alex added,

Given how hard it is to hire senior engineers, it seems like every company substantially under invests in their L&D budget/programs. With just a mild amount long-term thinking, a full-time staff focused on leveling up junior engineers makes sense https://twitter.com/Austen/status/1104134308711677952 …

Same reason for UBI, really! I think that's going to be one of the biggest productivity improvements for society.

Imagine how many $800 checks @stripe could write to increase the GDP of the internet? @patrickc just give @patio11 the budget...he'll figure out the details.
