There are default options for all of these, and folks who will present as options for these rather insistently, and it is far from obvious that those are the optimal answers.

The same goes for other personal time spent as well... e.g. it's so easy to just get lost in a vortex of social media and YouTube videos instead of intentionally deciding what you really want to do and what direction you want to go.

Intentional is a good word for this line of advice as it focuses on self-awareness more than specific action. Often the recommendation is just to be selective, but that's hardly useful to the people who aren't rich in options and end up alone, jobless, customerless and adviceless

Yeah, but sometimes you need to be alone for a while. Especially if you fear loneliness more than failure, you need to deal with that. If you have a roof over your head, you can afford to take alone time and figure out next steps.
