One of my friends is a strong founder, and they remarked that very few VCs would ever visit them in the East Bay. Whenever a VC would come over, it left a strong positive impression.

@jmj the average partner at 500 probably puts up 100K+ miles a year. You're right. That is for sure the work most aren't willing to do. That's exactly why we went from 0 to 6+ Unicorns outside of the US in the last 4 years. -

when i first moved to San Jose a friend in SF explained that many VCs don't like traveling south because of a lack of frequent rail. unclear what the actual percentage is but anecdotally your point is probably true. the exception is likely hardware and that's all off Montague/ST.
