I know I've complained about this before but honestly, @Skype, why do you think I want a desktop shortcut placed on my screen EVERY TIME YOU UPDATE? I said NO at install, and I haven't changed my mind, I promise.

Microsoft has been getting this wrong for so long.

I saw something recently about how you can guage the quality of product by how easy it is to return and I think the same principle applies to software uninstallation. (If someone saw the same thing remind me of it please.)

I did see this, but that observation isn't mine. (It seems to be a thought-provoking observation but wrong. There are many good products which can't be returned because of e.g. cost, cashflow, or risk management issues; there are plenty of crappy e-books which insta-refund.)

Example of wonderful products which are ~impossible to return: term life insurance (one of best products in the history of the financial industry!), high-end professional services (from most providers), employee time generally (if you consider that a product), etc.

Wouldn't those examples be better categorized as services?
