Lillian (4) and I watching Frozen. Lillian: “Why are they afraid?” “Well they think Elsa is a powerful sorceress.” “What’s that mean?” “A sorceress is a woman who uses magic.” “Duh what does powerful mean.” “Oh it means her magic can do almost anything.” “Oh yeah like her hair.”

“Yes... or like how she made Olaf.” “Is that powerful?” “Probably!” “I can make a snowman and I’m not a sorceress.” “... I suppose that is true.” “I wish I was a sorceress though then getting dressed would be easy.”

(Conversation cleaned up a little bit for comprehensibility since bilingual four year olds are not necessarily constrained by linearity of thought, complete sentences in one language, etc.)

interesting side note about the linearity of thought/bilingual aspect, my son is similar, not sure if it really has anything to do with them being bilingual though.

Yeah I meant that to be more specific to 4 year olds than bilingual kids.
