Where do jobs come from? ...and if that's too politically triggering: where does stuff that needs doing — that other people are willing to pay for — come from? Is there a finite supply of stuff to do? Can it be expanded? Contracted? So much rides on the way we think about this

The supply as time goes to infinity is bounded only by the human imagination and desires; the supply at any moment in time bears more resemblance to the way companies do headcount planning than to that.

There’s always a fight over who gets credit for being a job creator, and I wonder whether we shouldn’t heap accolades at the feet of anyone who writes a new, reproducible script or popularizes it. Funding sources for the script, meh, check writers are abundant and low value.
