@patio11 I have a payment processing mystery that I don't know how to track down - why would Visa have started charging 1% "International Service Assessment" on USD->USD transactions going through Stripe starting in October?
Probably easier to handle over email than Twitter so we can look at the transaction at issue; mind emailing support@stripe.com ? My go-to hypothesis would be a USD priced thing sold by a non-US user to a US customer, with the issuer (bank) likely tacking on the cross-border fee.

Tarsnap customers have reported seeing this for years. Depends on the card issuing bank -- usually it's banks based in the USA which do this. But "cross-border transaction" seems to be completely orthogonal to "a currency exchange took place".
