(I wonder if that will work at cell phone stores? Their reps are functionally bank tellers with less cash handling and they execute hundreds of contracts a month, which suggests that they probably have a shredder for the Oops I Misprinted That ones...)

(But the culture that is cell phone stores is likely very different than the culture which is banks.)

“What is the culture that is banks?” Relevantly to this anecdote, an ingrained sense of responsible professionalism, respect of customers’ privacy, and a can-do attitude with respect to customer requests that don’t alter fundamental economics of multi-decade lifecycle.

“That doesn’t sound like the banks I know?” Deprofessionalization of banking and banking’s deputization by the state for surveillance are deep topics but my short response is that even if you don’t believe it about banks banks believe it about themselves.

Why would you need to go to the bank (with usual queues at the bank tellers), when if you need to dispose of the document on the go you just tear it to small pieces, shuffle and dispose in different bins

banks also sometimes have notaries if you need one for some reason. we've used a notary at a TD Bank for something totally unrelated to banking one time on a trip.
-
Real estate and insurance offices also, some will take walk-ins who aren't customers.

My local bank actually schedules document shredding days when you can bring in bins of documents and they will shred them for you.
