(These look approximately directionally accurate to me, subject to the same caveat as Andrew, which is that some of them have public markets for their securities which are easy to value and some of them do not, but the cash components are going to be $120k~$140k regardless so.)

I worked with a bright & talented young Data Architect this year who told me she took a HUGE pay cut to move North to Canada with her husband and she wasn’t even working at one of these “top-five”. More to life than money, I guess.

I guess it’s mostly about standard of living - how much you can afford with what you make. Also about benefits, services, freedom of movement, life-work balance. You might be willing to take a pay cut, especially if in the end your spendable income is more or less the same :)
