Mailrooms are historically cost centers subsidized out of the fat, fat margins of professional services businesses and financial firms, but the frequency of use for Amazon specifically & the cost of duplicate truck rolls probably makes it beneficial for them to subsidize broadly.

It is, in fact, so good in my San Francisco neighborhood that it is regularly unavailable to me because "the locker is full".

With Amazon now owning Wholefoods the lockers are available in the stores and package theft is a such a problem in most neighborhoods in SF that amazon lockers are probably better alternatives then anything else. Thats my hyper local view
