Concrete cultural optimism goal: More people should believe that massive platforms they enjoy (Twitter, Reddit) could also be way better. Experimentation is necessary to discover big improvements. Some good things may go away in exchange for big changes and that’s ok.

More people should also believe that massive platforms they enjoy have created staggering amounts of aggregate value, as opposed to dismissing them as toys. This is relevant when discussing e.g. “I have an example of a concrete harm; what would we lose if we just shut it down?”
