In some fields I think it is 40% this and 60% “If the actual rules become the published rules by accident you have to change the actual rules because having the mismatch is the point.” If sending a social signal is easy and obvious then it loses the signaling value.https://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/1066086746323120134 …

You don't annoy me. I wish to engage. Technology as I've learned to use it, and been paid to use it, allows for messy but democratic delegation of powers to the edge. When you tweet things like this, I sense a power grab. Maybe not rational but it's what I sense.

In any case I respect your achievements in this industry and I'm sorry if I derailed your thread or had the wrong tone in my tweets. I really wrestle with these questions as an IT Pro and I follow you as thought leader in technology

Democracy is way ineffecient. Much easier & cleaner to assign power to as few people or systems as possible. So yeah. Effeciency is not my ultimate value.

Except that that's only efficient if you don't care that the results will frequently be "incorrect" according to the values of the rules. Democracy is actually far more efficient than oligarchy at translating population needs into policy.
