Surgeon money kicks in after many post grad years of med school and residency. You're making a claim engineers will see that at 22. Not saying you're wrong necessarily, but it's a lot more than surgeon money (and a lot less selective.)

This vociferous negative commentary sounds based more on wishful thinking or personal opinion regarding relative worth of said professions, than on an objective look at salary trends. Once again, neither seem particularly realistic on a 7 year scale, where so much can happen.

I would be very curious to see a single profession for which the salary curve has grown in a monotonous and somewhat linear way over a period of 15-20 years in history. Aside from macroeconomic factors, the mere law of supply/demand suggests everyone would move to the field…
