We have a lot of services. We have one service which lets you test any of the services (as a developer); it proxies from a central location to your own personal VPS somewhere in the cloud running whatever code you tell it to. The proxy had a regexp which didn't accept numbers.

The fix was pretty trivial. 3 character addition. Which I couldn't even execute, so the PR was basically "OK I eyeballed this but you literally can't reproduce the fail case so let's think very carefully prior to possibly borking this regexp and shutting down all engineers."

I tried to get a less-technical colleague to google you, I ended up saying “Google patio11, that’s easier”. Looking over to see her notes later in the meeting I thought to myself “Who the heck is Paddy O’Levin…” We got there in the end.
