This is anecdotal, but my strong impression is that enterprise software projects are a lot less likely to fail altogether than 2 or 3 decades ago. Some of the core ideas in “agile” have been instrumental in this.

I judge my proficiency in a technology based on how angry I get reading answers on SO. If I'm not angered by how dumb most of them are, I'm probably one of the dumbs.
