Synchronous availability of peers interested in the same things who both think as fast as me but have symmetrical difficulties expressing themselves and/or let me get a word in edgewise is not as high as I wish it would be, so I find writing more effective even when it's ~harder.

Same! I find it interesting to contrast my experience as a writer with my music and drawing experiences. writing is most natural for me, I'm okay at music and trash at drawing. and it's interesting how there's this mind-muscle meld / feedback loop that goes on
