Reporting not endorsing on that, by the way. I think people overestimate the amount of advantage a not-notably-successful startup has vis a vis gatekeeping and think if you wanted to devote every waking moment to job search washing that through a startup not maximally effective.

“What would be more effective?” Have a hundred conversations with AppAmaGooBookSoft PMs. It would be hard to *not* be hired contingent on you doing that. “That’s clearly not possible.” I mean a) there are thousands of them and b) talking to target segment is your desired job.

Want to become an engineer not a PM? Try flunking your way out of 20 engineering interviews. (It’s almost literally impossible to, given how bad the industry is at interview calibration.)
