I was chatting with an early startup team yesterday and they had a reasonably common question, which I will answer here for benefit of others in similar situation: What should one do about equity split in a team of X where one is clearly the junior partner?

If assuming everyone peers, perhaps and OPM, perhaps. If self-funding and avoiding VC jet fuel, though, then 30K or 300K in year one completely changes probability of company existence in a couple of years. Most of the angel deals I've done in Tokyo would consider 30K important.

If one has 300k to spend and all the skills needed to know how to spend it, it sounds like a solo founder situation.
