They exist up and down the scale, too, from folks with 6 figures of personal assets doing it to 3~5 apps with low 5 digits annual revenue each to folks with 7 figures of assets (sometimes personal, sometimes of a syndicate) running more companies/more revenue to sky-the-limit.

The prototypical example of a roll-up is "Wait, why are there 7 firms each with 10 employees of whom 1 is exec, 3 are devs, 3 are sales, and 3 are G&A when this could be 4 execs, 10 devs, 25 sales folks doing cross-selling, and 5 G&A people."
