In "Wait, why doesn't literally everyone do this?", we implemented something where, if you request a call from your Stripe account, it shows you two random numbers. When we call you, we read you the first number (to prove that we're Stripe) and then ask you for the second.

Banks don’t understand phishing. I remember I had to explain to several bank personnel how their procedures were phishing-prone. Exactly like you said, they verified I was me, but I had no way of knowing they were them. Could have been any joe blow with a voip spoofing their #.
