Diet and finance pro tip: eat almost all of your meals at home, and make most things from scratch. Lost 10lbs over the last month eating pasta, ice cream nightly, and a drink a day. No added extra. Just smaller plates and control over ingredients.

It’s not like there is a huge immovable culture difference. You can just look at pictures of meals as late as early 1980s and they’d be considered diet food now in US.

I felt like I became a full adult the (recent) day I internalized “sunk cost” wrt to restaurants & bars. After a lifetime of admonishment for clean plates, I realized I could just leave a meal (or beer) unfinished once I'd had enough.
