I kind of want to quote Matt Levine's latest at you but it's almost all quotable so, in lieu of quoting it, can I again recommend it: 1) It is the best column covering tech or finance 2) I read it daily 3) If you follow me, it is almost certainly relevant to your interests.

Because media, it is surprisingly difficult for me to give you a URL which maps to that call to action but I think it is this one: http://link.mail.bloombergbusiness.com/join/4wm/moneystuff-signup?source=msweb … You get the column delivered as a free newsletter; otherwise there is some paywall thing that I am too tired to figure out.

(I would happily pay whatever I do for my WSJ subscription to either a) whomever carries his column or b) his column, just by itself, if I trusted any media company to be able to consummate that transaction reliably.)

Me: "Hello! I grew up reading your physical newspaper daily on my father's knee. It taught me to read and is my very image of the professional I aspire to be." WSJ: "What I'm hearing is you want to be prompted to log in a lot." Me: "What no." WSJ: "Username and password?"

Me: "You're a multi-billion dollar media company." WSJ: "Username and password?" Me: "You report on tech. You must have met a web developer once. Can you ask them how to solve this problem?" WSJ: "Identity and authentication are nuanced TO READ THE REST OF THIS ARTICLE SUBSCRIBE"

WSJ has the best customer support. Last year's renewal call: Me: Please discount my rate WSJ: Ok, what price did you have in mind? Me: <very low number> WSJ: *pauses* umm, sir, if that's how little value you place on being informed, you're probably not the right customer for us.

I can't count the WSJ stories I was interested in but didn't read because there was a lot going on & I didn't want to enter my username & password on my phone.

What shocks me is there is no way via app or web to accomplish “Show me only articles I haven’t read.”

Just a minute ago I was thinking this should be a feature on the twitter app. Anyone use a 3rd party app they'd recommend?
