Requesting a one-sided favor that had been ignored initially seems kinda rude

Yeah, I think this applies to folks like me who get so many messages I can’t read every one or easily lose track. So I’m usually not ignoring. I’m so so thankful for follow ups, I’m often happy to help folks out (especially for simple things like RT on a “looking for work” post)

(Worth noting this doesn’t just apply to individuals who are more visible, but also professions that involve an intense amount of socializing like investors or recruiters)

Chiming in: we very rarely have fully adequate state on our counterparties' inbox depth, email habits, place in periodic work cycles, personal lives, etc, and so non-reply is, even if weak evidence, generally not determinable to be weak evidence of non-desire to engage.

I've got two emails on the top of my inbox saying "Bumping this to the top of your inbox." They probably didn't intend that to land after a holiday weekend in Japan elongated by a day off due to caring for a sick child, but it helped me all the same.
