A tip for receiving compliments, specific to American business culture: “Thank you.” “Thanks; that made my day.” “Thanks; it is always great to know the work matters to people.” are all probably better socially adjusted than deflecting compliments. Just macro your favorite.

I have to continuously work to simply accept compliments. It’s uncomfortable for me, but it’s the most graceful way to handle them. On the other hand if _I_ am the one talking about the work, I’ll generally deflect praise and credit to other contributors whenever possible.
