That's "Baby Doe" in the US. It makes sense to enter such a name for the child. Humans (MDs, RNs, etc.) will use something as shorthand for, "the male baby found on 5th St." The designers of the system should also permit annotating the field as "unconfirmed" or "placeholder".

I do take your point, though. I was thinking that your original post was arguing against "requiring" a name for a person. That sort of design might lead to unjustifiable complexity throughout the system. It would also be bad design to conflate "Baby Doe" with "we didn't know."
