Yeah we were angry because “real Japanese people don’t speak like that”, but as I said, it saved my ass at work. (Actually, I’m sure I just used “-ていらっしゃる” an hour ago talking with Japanese parents at our kid’s school here in Canada.)

Yep. Japanese often compliment me on how polite my Japanese is, and I think it’s due to the approach of that book. Has helped me a lot in business as it makes me perceived more positively.
