Apparently ~75% of all executives surveyed by Deloitte are of the opinion that *looks around room* the emperor's new clothes are fabulous, the height of fashion really, and that they would be honored to help him accessorize.https://twitter.com/kerooke/status/1031293508743716864 …

Over 70% of executives think they are "blockchain experts" according to Deloitte's 2018 Blockchain Survey 😂 They also believe the biggest advantage of blockchain technology is speed 🤦‍♂️ The biggest problem in blockchain is hubris. And it's toxic. 🤮 There are no experts. pic.twitter.com/n2qMcYOziC

And not only are the emperor's new clothes fabulous but apparently they are bullet-proof! (The blockchain's #1 advantage, according to these experts? Speed. Of course. If only developers had said "Wait, why settle for mediocrity? Let's scale to 3 QPS. We can if we believe!")

I'm a big fan of @mims proposal to replacing "blockchain" with "multiple copies of a giant excel spreadsheet" as a way of minimizing hype.

Most POC examples I have seen w/ faster blockchain/DLT were situations where a protocol for data exchanges across all participants didn’t exist (eg supply chain) or central party had monopolistic share and no incentives to innovate/invest for more speed (financial settlement).
