In so doing I'm going to violate conventional modesty norms. I've internalized those norms, so feel awkward about it (thus this tweet). I also think those norms often really should be ignored.

Modesty norms are weird. Everyone who feels them should weigh them less. Everyone who doesn't should weigh them more.

There are a lot of people who are immodest about things which the world needs more immodesty about, like e.g. salary scales. If one is a virtue ethicist one might want caricatured frat bro working in $FIELD to be quiet but a consequentialist probably says "DISTRIBUTE THAT DATA."
