What kind of content is better suited to an email newsletter than to blog posts / tweets? I'm struggling to understand what unique value the newsletter medium adds.

And email generally needs to be actioned, whereas social posts that happened while away will probably never be seen by me. Additionally, the inbox is where business happens. Done right, a good newsletter will live alongside other communication and be perceived more substantial.
