There was a story a number of years ago at AppAmaGooBookSoft which showed an external physical logo at HQ covered in some form of slime or algae. Seeing that immediately caused this Japanese salaryman to degrade estimate of organizational competence.

A sort of Protestant work ethic, cleanliness-is-a-sign-of-an-ordered-life, do-hard-and-dirty-work-because-it-is-hard-and-dirty motivational poster thing. I don't not feel sympathy to that, but my less deep thought: the business process that results in clean bathroom is complex.

Also bathrooms are easier to clean than kitchens. A dirty bathroom indicates your food will touch far worse.
