They can both be right if overall number of trips increases, but to the extent the impression of the top graph is that car rental is on the decline, that is not accurate.

Not sure I follow. The argument about market share doesn’t have to contradict stock value. That seems to be what you’re implying. Fewer cars rented (market share ↓ ) means many agencies go out of business, 1 or 2 will remain. Perhaps remaining agencies ↑ value.

Comparing a 10+ year graph with a 3-4 year graph will produce weird results. The original graph comparing mode share starts around that Sept-ish 2014 peak. Ouch!
