Actually, I worked for 5 yrs. for a company improving the way commercial insurance is issued. Only 1 major competitor. Absolutely room for an upstart to disrupt - it’s what we worked to stay ahead of!

My own insurance industry experience says that replacing Excel has either already been done or not sensible. I've been involved on a $1-2M project and the competition did the same thing in Excel. Actuaries like Excel and it goes a long (flexible) way.

Is it a case of hidden low-hanging fruit (B2C) vs. obvious high-hanging fruit (B2B)? Even if B2B problems are known, often aren't they devilishly hard to solve well?
