We know the script for succesful funded startup founders: sell company, then move into angel investing or become partners at VC fims.
We kinda stll need to write the script for succesful bootstrapped founders. What do they do? @patio11 went on to work for @stripe for example.

Why does there need to be a script? Isn't one of the main idea of bootstrapping that you write your own script?

My experience is that there are people who benefit quite a bit from the perception of there being a career path, partly because they've been brought up to expect one, partially because of key stakeholder expectations (parents/significant other/bank/etc), partly to decrease risk.
