Improvements are scary for non-tech-savvy users. I’ve watched people not update because they want it to “just fucking keep working”. User hostile copy has been way more effective here from my POV.

Am I the only person who's put off by too-happy copy? It feels too... underhandedly persuasive, like TV commercials. I don't want to be marketed-at by a program I use all the time. There has to be some neutral ground.
