DAS migrated from Braintree to Stripe last week. Both companies were awesome and made it as painless as it could possibly be. The actual data migration (which they do directly between each other so we don't touch card data) only took a few hours once we asked them to trigger it.

All subscription renewal dates are now one day later than they used to be for Reasons, and the text on credit card bills will change a bit, but other than that it shouldn't be noticeable at all.

There are many reasons, but the easiest to explain is: Stripe's API is far and away better than Braintree's. One example: just listing out our active subscriptions was a "go get lunch while it runs" operation, and even then it sometimes failed. No such problems with Stripe.

I've been consistently impressed with Braintree's support throughout my seven years as a customer, though. That's what kept me on it for so long.

Should DAS automatically email receipts when it charges? It never has before because past me hated getting email. But current me kind of likes getting emailed receipts. Do you want to get emailed receipts?

My general opinion on this is that a) I do not have data which suggests it increases churn and b) if you have a customer who could be moved to quit by being reminded they’re paying, you want them gone.
