I have customers overworking/crunching right now, stressed. It's not because of our product, we're doing our best there. I wish I could do something to comfort them. Could send "I'm sorry you're stressed" box of chocolates, but feels wrong to give gifts to someone for crunching.

It’s very easy for salarymen to read support for themselves as support for the rituals and social control technologies of salarymandom, which easily co-opts concerns like “It’s terrible but we’ve all been there; just a little more!” but alternative feels worse for me. YMMV.

Bonus note but you did genderize some symbol use in these messages. It doesn't offend me nor do I think you had any mal-intent, but we should include salarywomen and other non-standard versions just in case they are present. I honestly don't even know what a salaryman is :)
