The "in response to" part is an important part. It makes the envisioned experience of posting a tweet emotionally distasteful.

Interesting detail from Twitter's latest 10-K: They adjust their reported metrics by subtracting off known fake accounts. In otter words, they know there are fake accounts which they have chosen not to delete.

@Twitter is to blame. They could catch this easily, but it's good money for them (ads) so no. They are effectively profiteering from these scams.

This would be so easy to stop. How about auto-blocking tweets by users with the same profile pic as the poster? Or fuzzy username matching. The fact that
