GM Y’all! When I began my archive “Everyday Monuments” in the 90s it was to create a kind of ‘just the facts ma’am’ examination of the quotidian flotsam & jetsam of the street - over time I fell in love with the little rascals and their circumstances.

If you’re in ATL please join us tonight for the opening of Carl Martin’s “Structures” - combining a New Topographics grounding to an utterly wicked sensibility for the majesty & frail funny beauty that we humans provoke & respond to - 6-8 - nice wines - just saying.

“The work of art is a revelation of the innate goodness of matter. Matter narcissistically mirrors itself in art, with the artist's hidden hand that holds the mirror up, the impersonal mechanism by means of which matter makes its perfection manifest.” Donald Kuspit

3/Using a Leica and color negative the. I think NFTs is an ideal way to conserve and extend the archive. Initially exhibited in prints/grids - I felt close to Ruscha, the Bechers and Richard Prince as I was finding what visual ephemera felt monumental via its quotient banality.

2/The project is called “Everyday Monuments” - it began in the mid 90s and took about 10 years to feel complete. I moved on finally around 2005. I have a round a 1000 portraits divided into various categories of monuments. Traffic cones (they’re making a comeback!) etc

Love this thought from Sean! Been thinking about what makes SX-70 Pola so sweet since 1975 when I bought my first one. I would only add that there is a sturdy “objectness” about them and of course the square format.

Polaroids are interesting. Thinking about it, the imperfections that I like about a #polaroid image; the color, contrast, etc. are really byproducts of producing an instant image chemically. They're sorta awesome by accident like a cheap guitar. #Polaroid_Love
