I don’t understand how your statement challenges a premise of the knowledge argument. Nowhere is it suggested that complete academic understanding of the color red causes the color red to be seen or experienced. What am I missing?

As far as I can determine, the “knowledge argument” simply states the opinion that the nuanced qualia of subjective experience can not be sufficiently described or explained using empirical science. Which, agree or disagree, is a completely valid opinion.

The slight of hand in KA is that people do not seriously consider the idea of having ALL the physical information

When Mary will actually see the colour red, it would be the first time ever that the specific cones in her retinae, nerve fibers in her optic nerves & optic tracts and the neurons in her occipital lobe would get stimulated, hence she will gain new knowledge.

One can easily imagine a device that measures signals from the optic nerve, digitizes them, and transmits it to a xmit-device in the room, perhaps through b&w QR code. Then, as much as anyone shares the experience, the subject will share the experience?

This doesn't touch the KA. The issue is whether what's at the end of the causal path can be captured in 'book-wise' language, not what it takes to see red. That's not in dispute.

There are lots of unique causal paths involved in unconscious neural activity. What’s special about the paths that lead to conscious experience?

Just like semantic vs episodic memory, there is propositional vs experiential knowledge. Different types acquired through different means.
