Because music means so much to me, and because musicians don't get paid enough (always, but especially in COVID times), I built a tiny site: One email each month saying: "Hey, maybe buy an album you love?", based on what you've listened to lately. 🎶

… there's a busker within earshot of my new place. This wasn't part of the plan. 😒 If the Hare Krishna find me as well, I may be breaking my lease.

This is a big day. I’m very happy to announce that we have founded the Organization for Ethical Source to shepherd and fund the work of the Ethical Source Movement.

At least 39 innocent Afghans were deliberately murdered by Australian soldiers. Their crimes were so severe and offensive that other soldiers dobbed them in. And we have not reckoned with this in any serious way. White supremacists continue to love and praise their killer idol

Less than a month after photos emerged of Ben Roberts-Smith cheerfully posing with the prosthetic leg of a murdered Afghan man, which he and his buddies drank from, the Daily Mail runs this puff piece about him "debuting" his new girlfriend.

"Me, I'm a little good man and I make little things" I think about this butterman, a lot. He's probably my most significant professional role model these days.

just learnt that the terms 'high brow' and 'low brow' come from eugenics, and the idea that rich white Europeans had higher brow ridges 🤯 it shocks me (but also not that much) how much of our language is rooted in racism

So now the challenge is: do I sleep, or do I keep following all the West Wing suggestions YouTube is now making for me? 😅

Reading another chapter of Sand Talk for 's book club, and am reminded of the significant flaws of the Mercator projection world map… I think I first learned about this from a big-block-of-cheese-day episode of The West Wing?

Much like Tom Holland's Umbrella, and The Contact Tracys, every time I see this in my feed I have to listen to it. The harmonies are glorious.

The way all these cowards are finally taking measures against Trump in the last two weeks, only after the failed insurrection that ended his political power... Nah. You get no pats on the back.

"I don't feel sorry for congress at all. Oh, I'm sorry, did you have to hide under your desk because of guns? Wah wah wah. I've only had to do that six times since kindergarten. School is terrifying. Maybe now they'll pass gun reform." - one of my 9th grade students, today

I’m not convinced the left-right political binary established as a result of Eurasian imperialism is sufficient to describe the dynamics of racism & the political realities of being Black in a world constructed around anti-Blackness but it’s a lot to tweet. I’ll just stew on it.

Walked into a bookshop today… and while I didn't buy books for myself (such self restraint! 😮) I did pick up two beautiful picture books (by & , and ) as gifts 🤩

Two picture books: Day Break by Amy McQuire and illustrated by Matt Chun, and When We Say Black Lives Matter both written and illustrated by Maxine Beneba Clarke.

Oh-so-mundane: I don't care much about calendar apps, but Apple's removal of snoozing-notifications-with-different-times in Big Sur continues to be frustrating. I need native apps for macOS & iOS, attached to Fastmail and/or iCloud. Is Fantastical worth the money? Other options?

Wow. The decision was based on the US prison system being so awful and repressive that Assange would be at significant suicide risk.

For anyone using Goodreads but would much prefer something not owned by Amazon, is highly recommended (and now out of beta 👏🏻🎉). Also: a cleaner interface, I hear their recommendations are solid, and the team behind it are top notch humans.
