I mean, I think it's appropriate to fire him either way. It's, at most generous, incredibly reckless and inappropriate behavior. I'm asking if there's a basis for the assertion.
I have noted that people of ambition are so self focused (selfish) that they are the most likely candidates for behavior like this. Just a slight nudge in their trajectory leads them either to glory or ignominy. It has proven an invaluable guide to me these many years.
