Let's play a game! It's called: "Breitbart headline or KKK newspaper from the 1920s" Obviously identifying words changed. Good luck!

My husband was an English major & has been a pediatrician for the past 20 years. A great deal of medicine is evaluating evidence & telling a convincing story. Thanks for spreading the word on majors!

If you can read serious scholarly work and respond to that work effectively AND have the core basic science in hand, you’ll be well prepared for med school. And yes, history majors can handle that very well.

Not taking any classes in the history department is my greatest academic regret from undergrad.

As a writing teacher on a health sciences campus, this can't be stated strongly enough. Humanities majors can bring a lot to the sciences.

My 5-yr-old client can’t tell me what country she is from. We prepare her case by drawing pictures with crayons of the gang members that would wait outside her school. Sometimes she wants to draw ice cream cones and hearts instead. She is in deportation proceedings alone.

Yes! Here’s more on that topic, with a quote from a student who was an English major.

Somehow it’s the dominant majority that worries about “social trust” and everybody else is just trying to live their lives. If you want to promote social trust, advocate trusting everyone in our polity, as you should.

Multiculturalism (whatever that is) doesn’t reject a unifying culture. It’s literally what we live every day in the US. But a “unifying” culture that seeks to suppress the identities & legitimacy of a third of its population pushes racism from the start.

“Veprek instead makes a case against multiculturalism in his comments. "What's the evidence for such 'complementarity?' Some commentators assert that a unifying culture (as opposed to multiculturalism) is the best way to promote social trust and combat racism."”

“"The drafters say 'populism and nationalism' as if these are dirty words," wrote Andrew Veprek, the deputy assistant secretary for refugees and migration, in documents obtained exclusively by CNN.” Yeah, well, read a history book.

American racism & ethno-nationalism have a unique form (that‘s returned in an awful way). But the ideas dismissed here destroyed Europe in the early 20th century. There are no principles abstracted from context. Populism, xenophobia, & racism killed tens of millions.
