    When Lloyd Jarrow was 17, he was given a life without parole sentence. While incarcerated he he took advantage of educational opportunities and was a leader among his peers. After 25 years in prison, he received his second chance.

    THREAD: Today is the 4th anniversary of Montgomery v. Louisiana, the SCOTUS decision holding that life w/o parole sentences are unconstitutional for the vast majority of youth. Progress has been made, but challenges remain--and Henry Montgomery is still in prison after 56 years.

    After 25 years in prison, Cedric Williams received his second chance. While at Angola he earned a diploma in welding and then gave back as a tutor helping other students earn their certifications. Cedric looks forward to finding gainful employment with the skills he had acquired.

    Thanks to our LSU student volunteers who conducted a workshop on technology skills for our clients. This type of support not only provides formerly incarcerated people with tools to be successful but also creates an atmosphere where they feel welcomed & a part of their community.
