How about just decriminalize drug possession and use and end prison sentence for these “offenses” altogether? Put resources on referral/psycho social support and medical treatment. This shouldn’t be based on individual judge’s discretion imho.

Parmis, the bill has nothing to do with simple possession. All the codes in the bill are related to drug trafficking. Chesa and Scott want leniency for drug traffickers.

That’s great! Thx for clarifying. Traffickers are often addicts themselves so hopefully this will open treatment options for them. Hope to see positives results.

Well, I guess it's ok with you to have the drug house next door to your house. That's one of the listed codes too. Enjoy your utopia.

I see your point. Criminalization hasn’t reduced drug use and overcrowded the prison system. There are more effective ways to deal with this by helping addicts and traffickers (often addicts) obtains support and treatment. I don’t advocate for no consequences release.
